British-based exhibitions and conferences organiser ITE Group has acquired Breakbulk and confirmed its intention to bring the show to the Middle East later this year.
As part of the acquisition from AXIO Data, ITE has taken ownership of the six existing Breakbulk trade events, which address the needs of traditional breakbulk and project cargo logistics professionals, that take place in the US, Belgium, China, South Africa, Turkey and Brazil.
The firm will host a Middle East-focused Breakbulk show in October 2015.
“This acquisition significantly increases our presence in the global transport and logistics sector,” commented Laurent Noel, ITE’s transport and logistics industry director.
“We have ambitions to expand in markets and geographies with growth potential as well as diversify the geopolitical risk in our portfolio.
“This deal means that we now have sixteen events in fourteen countries across four continents,” he explained.
Despite the takeover, the Breakbulk management team – including managing director Alli McIntyre – will stay with the business. The brand will continue to specialise in logistics intelligence across heavy-lift industries such as mining, infrastructure, construction, and energy.
Although the final location has not yet been confirmed, Breakbulk Middle East 2015 will take place form 26-29 October.
